LucySo after looking on Facebook, I discovered leedsfirstfirday which was the group my friend Alice had spoken about and due to the family commitments decided my first visit was going to be September 2022.
I started chatting on Facebook and soon found that their was a chat group on discord. I asked to join this and amazed at how friendly, and welcoming everyone was.
I started chatting to Grai – an admin, Justine an admin, and then Jean and Sophie W newbies like myself and a few others. The chat was always light hearted and nothing seemed off limits for chatting and I made some new E-Friends. It really was very uplifting. The support I got from people who I had never met me was somewhat of an eye opener. I still wasn’t sure if I was nonbinary, cd or trans but it didn’t matter. All was welcome. And due to the admin’s watchful eye – no one ever causes upset without it being caught – queried or dealt with. Something I found (and still find) very refreshing – the whole thing made me more eager to come to Leeds. The clock was ticking and I needed to get myself together.
I cannot thank my new e-friends for welcoming me to a group and helping me along the way.
