LucyI have had a friend on Twitter and Facebook for a while called Alice, I have read her posts and we have communicated for quite some time on a frequent basis. So during one of our conversations I suggested we meet up. I had seen her talk about a monthly trans/cd event she attended and not really ever going anywhere to meet others I was very curious!
We met on a sunday afternoon in February 2022. Alice has a certain confidence about her, something that I was lacking. She likes to wear big proper evening dresses and wears them with style and doesn’t really get any comments or if she does they don’t seem to bother her. I was in leggings a top and make-up and I think I was a lot more nervous than her. We met at a family pub in Lincolnshire.
We both got a few looks from the waiting staff and also some of the punters in the pub but it was a great lunch we chatted about the night out in Leeds she was attending. She told me it was Leeds first Friday, at that time I had no idea what a night out in Leeds would mean to me in the future.
I gained a bit of confidence from meeting Alice – I was still very careful and wary of reactions and others, and I still catch myself now. But meeting Alice started something.
